Vietnamese top player Nguyen Tien Minh on February 26 was knocked out of the Austrian Open badminton tournament in Vienne after suffering a harrowing defeat to Artem Pochtarev of Ukraine 1-2 (16-21, 21-13, 17-21) in the second round.

Meanwhile, on the women's side, Vietnamese player Vu Thi Trang entered the semi-final round of the tournament after beating Sabrina Jaque from Swiss 2-1 (21-10, 18-21, 21-15) in the quarter-finals.

Earlier, in the second round, Trang crushed French player Delphine Lansac 2-0 (22-20, 21-19).

Following her victory, Trang next faces Xu Wei of China in the semi-finals.
