On the morning of May 29, a delegation of senior Party, State and Vietnam Fatherland Front leaders led by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man visited and extended Vesak greetings to Most Venerable Thich Tri Quang, Supreme Patriarch of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.
Joining the delegation were Politburo member and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai, along with Party Central Committee members Lam Van Man, Chairman of the Nationalities Council; Nguyen Thanh Hai, Chairwoman of the National Assembly's Committee for Science, Technology and Environment; and Nguyen Dinh Khang, Minister of Ethnic and Religious Affairs.
Vietnam Buddhism contributes to national unity

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man visits and extends Vesak greetings to Most Venerable Thich Tri Quang, Supreme Patriarch of the Council for Certification of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, at Hue Nghiem Pagoda in An Khanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.
On behalf of the Party and State leadership, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man conveyed his best wishes to Most Venerable Thich Tri Quang, Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha's Council for Certification, and Most Venerable Thich Thien Nhon, Deputy Supreme Patriarch and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, as well as to monks, nuns, Buddhist followers and the wider Buddhist community across Vietnam.
He wished them peace, unity and happiness during the Vesak season under the light of Buddhist teachings.
The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that Buddhism has always accompanied the nation throughout its history, remaining closely connected with the people while upholding the spirit of serving both the nation and its citizens.
He noted that representatives of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha have consistently participated in the National Assembly and local People's Councils across multiple terms.
Tran Thanh Man emphasized that the Party and State have consistently supported and created favorable conditions for people of all religions to exercise their rights to freedom of belief and religion in accordance with the law.
He praised the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha for its contributions to strengthening national solidarity, implementing Party guidelines and State policies, and supporting social welfare initiatives, including charity work, education, healthcare and the construction of community solidarity houses.
The National Assembly Chairman also expressed his hope that, through their influence and leadership, Most Venerable Thich Tri Quang and Most Venerable Thich Thien Nhon would continue guiding the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in promoting patriotism and maintaining its tradition of accompanying the nation.
The year 2026 marks a significant milestone for the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha as it celebrates its 45th anniversary while organizing Buddhist congresses at all levels ahead of the 10th National Buddhist Congress.
Tran Thanh Man wished the Sangha success in these important events.
Forty-five years of accompanying the nation
Most Venerable Thich Tri Quang expressed his sincere appreciation for the attention and goodwill shown by Party and State leaders, especially National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, during the Vesak celebration.
He said the visit served as a great source of encouragement for the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha as it continues contributing to the country's development.
Through the National Assembly Chairman, the Supreme Patriarch also extended his greetings and best wishes to General Secretary To Lam and other Party and State leaders.
Thich Tri Quang expressed confidence that following the 14th National Party Congress and the expansion of Ho Chi Minh City's development space through closer links with Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau, the city would gain new momentum for growth.
With its large community of monks, nuns and followers, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha would continue making positive contributions to the development of Ho Chi Minh City and the nation as a whole, he said.
The Supreme Patriarch noted that throughout the Sangha's 45 years of development, it has remained closely aligned with Vietnam's renewal and growth process.
Later, the delegation of Party, State and Vietnam Fatherland Front leaders visited Quang Duc Monastery to extend Vesak greetings to Most Venerable Thich Thien Nhon, Deputy Supreme Patriarch and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.
Thich Thien Nhon thanked Party and State leaders for their continued attention to the Buddhist community during Vesak celebrations and expressed hope that authorities would continue supporting favorable conditions for Buddhist activities and the development of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.
He also reaffirmed the Sangha's commitment to contributing to the prosperity and development of Vietnam.
