Heavy rains have flooded large parts of Da Nang, paralyzing traffic and disabling vehicles across the city. In a particularly alarming incident, water runoff triggered a landslide near the Hoa Khanh social housing complex, opening a deep sinkhole beside one of the buildings.

On the morning of November 3, relentless downpours inundated several areas of Da Nang, with floodwaters rising rapidly on major roads such as Au Co, Dong Ke, and Ton Duc Thang.
At Au Co Street, torrents of water cascaded down from the mountains, creating fast-flowing streams and flooding some spots with water depths exceeding 0.5 meters. Swirling currents formed dangerous whirlpools, forcing residents to help each other cross the road to avoid being swept away. Many cars and motorbikes stalled mid-street.
Of particular concern was the situation at the Hoa Khanh social housing complex, where the runoff from Au Co Street eroded the hillside adjacent to Building B1. The resulting landslide formed a sinkhole over 2 meters deep and about 2 meters wide. Soil, sand, and debris were swept into the building’s courtyard, posing a serious safety hazard for residents.
Authorities quickly arrived at the scene, cordoned off the affected area, and placed sandbags as a temporary measure to prevent further erosion.
