During the National Assembly session held on the morning of August 22, Deputy Prime Minister Long provided detailed insights into the government's proactive measures to buoy the tourism industry.

Under the Prime Minister's direction, the sector has seen significant advancements, including the inauguration of a Tourism Development Support Fund with a charter capital of 300 billion VND and the acceleration of digital transformation in tourism.

The government's strategy has been to diversify and innovate tourism services, focusing on four main product lines: island and beach resorts, cultural and heritage tourism, community and rural agricultural tourism, and urban tourism.

This approach leverages the unique natural, climatic, and cultural identities of each region, guided by the principle that "Each locality has its own distinctive tourism product."

The Deputy Prime Minister also highlighted local innovations in integrating OCOP products with cultural and street food experiences, which have significantly enhanced the tourist experience in regions like Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Quang Ninh, Da Nang, Binh Thuan, Khanh Hoa, and Can Tho.

"Vietnam's tourism has not only recovered but has thrived, marking it as a luminary in our socio-economic landscape," Deputy Prime Minister Long remarked.

He bolstered his statement with statistics: in 2023, Vietnam welcomed 12.6 million international tourists, surpassing its target by 57.5% and generating revenues of 672 trillion VND.

This performance earned Vietnam the title of "Asia's Leading Destination" for the fifth consecutive year. In 2024, the country has already seen nearly 10 million international visitors, with revenues estimated at 513.3 trillion VND.

Looking forward, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the importance of fostering quality growth and enhancing the professionalism of the tourism sector, advocating for stronger regional collaborations and an integration of tourism with other economic sectors.

Aligning with global trends, he stressed the necessity of ensuring that tourism development is both green and sustainable, focusing on creating an exceptional tourist experience. The goal for 2024 is ambitious: to attract 18 million international tourists.

The Deputy Prime Minister also touched on significant strides in combating industry malpractices. Since early 2022, over 190,000 market management inspections have been carried out, identifying over 130,000 cases and referring 406 for criminal investigation. He detailed measures to combat smuggling, commercial fraud, and counterfeit goods, including stricter enforcement and increased public awareness.

Moreover, he reported on improvements in the execution of court judgments related to economic, corruption, and public service crimes, with notable increases in the number of fully executed cases in 2023 and 2024.

In conclusion, Deputy Prime Minister Long reaffirmed the government's commitment to rigorous implementation of the National Assembly's resolutions and directives, particularly in enhancing asset recovery and tackling corruption, thereby ensuring robust governance and transparency.
