The Health Department in the Mekong Delta province of Tra Vinh on August 14 announced that it has recorded one more death caused by the swine flu A/H1N1.

This is the second death from swine flu virus A/H1N1 in the province.

The deceased, Nguyen Thi Mung, 82, was hospitalized Tra Vinh General Hospital on July 30 with initial diagnosis of pneumonia and coronary. Her health condition got worse on August 9 and she died on the same day.  

Tests from the Ho Chi Minh City Pasteur Institute showed that she was positive for A/H1N1.

According to the Director of the Tra Vinh provincial Centre for Disease Control, Nguyen Van Lo, efforts have been made to sterilize the patient’s house and spray Cloramin B on surrounding areas.

Vice director of the provincial Department of Health Nguyen Huu Phuoc said the province has detected four cases of A/H1N1 influenza infection, including two deaths.

The Department has actively worked with media communications agencies to provide information about flu A/H1N1 prevention, fighting and treatment measures and encourage locals to regularly wash hands with soap or antiseptic solution. 

Once they are found symptoms of flu they must go to medical centres for check-up and treatment, said Mr Phuoc.
