From January 1, 2025, drivers in Vietnam will be notified of traffic violations through the VNeTraffic application, as stipulated by Circular 73/2024/TT-BCA issued by the Ministry of Public Security.

Under Circular 73, if a traffic violation is detected but the vehicle cannot be stopped for immediate inspection and processing, authorities must identify the vehicle and its owner within 10 days. This involves using the National Vehicle Registration Database, the National Population Database, and other relevant sources.

In cases where the violator resides outside the jurisdiction of the district-level police department that detected the violation, the collected evidence will be forwarded to the violator’s local police station for further processing. If the local police station lacks the necessary network infrastructure, the case will be transferred to the district police where the violator resides or is registered.

Notifications will be sent to violators via official documents or electronically through the VNeTraffic app. This ensures accessibility for drivers, allowing them to address violations conveniently without unnecessary travel.

The app, managed and operated by the Ministry of Public Security, will provide drivers with detailed violation records, including the type of vehicle, license plate number, time and location of the violation, the violation itself, the detecting authority, the handling authority, and a contact phone number.

A user-friendly platform for drivers

Through the VNeTraffic app, users can access their violation records and histories, enabling them to stay informed about their driving status. The app integrates infrastructure and technical systems to share data seamlessly, ensuring a smooth user experience.

In addition to notifications, details of violations will be published on the official website of the Traffic Police Department and within the app. This transparency ensures that all related parties, including vehicle owners and organizations, can efficiently address administrative procedures.

The initiative is part of a broader effort to modernize Vietnam’s traffic management system, improve transparency, and streamline the handling of traffic violations.
