Senior Lieutenant General Pham Ngoc Minh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army speaks at the opening of the course.

The course runs from June 4-20 with the participation of lecturers who are international experts from the GPOI and 30 Vietnamese and international trainees.

It provides trainees with basic knowledge about the United Nations and peacekeeping activities as well as the functions, tasks and coordination mechanisms among staff agencies.

They also learn to make operational plans and strategies and ensure communication logistics.

Senior Lieutenant General Pham Ngoc Minh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, appreciated the support of the GPOI in organising the course.

He asked the Vietnam Peacekeeping Centre to closely work with relevant agencies and partner countries to make the course successful.

The course creates an excellent opportunity for trainees to share experience in the UN peacekeeping operations in a multinational environment and improve their English communication skills.

It also helps increase mutual understanding, cultural exchange and friendship among staff officers as well as develop cooperation between Vietnam and other countries, including the US, in the UN peacekeeping activities.-VNA
