Tran Thanh Man, Party Central Committee member and Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee, has been appointed the new President of the VFF.

The decision was announced at a consultation session in the framework of the 8th VFF Central Committee’s 7th conference in Hanoi on June 22.
Man will replace Nguyen Thien Nhan, who was appointed the new Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City’s Party Committee.
Tran Thanh Man was born in the Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang on August 12, 1962. He has been a member of the Party Central Committee in the 10th, 11th and the current 12th tenures, and a NA deputy in the 13th and the current 14th terms.
The conference also approved a decision to let Nguyen Thien Nhan give up the chairmanship of the VFF Central Committee, and the membership of the presidium and the 13th VFF Central Committee.
Addressing the meeting, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Commission Pham Minh Chinh expressed his belief that in their new positions, Nguyen Thien Nhan and Tran Thanh Man will well perform their missions, and make all-out efforts to serve the people and the nation, especially in promoting the great national unity bloc.
The new President of the VFF Central Committee affirmed that he will do his utmost to uphold the role of the VFF in the coming time.
On the occasion, Man called on people from all walks of life in and outside the country to continue responding to patriotic emulation movements, thus promoting the strength of the great national unity in national construction and defence.
