The Ministry of Transportation (MoT) on Monday announced eight public-private-partnership (PPP) investment projects under the build-operation-transfer (BOT) form on the Eastern North-South expressway for 2017-2020.

The eight projects include roads connecting Sơn La Province’s Mai Sơn District with National Highway No 45, the National Highway No 45 with Thanh Hoá Province’s Nghi Sơn District, Nghi Sơn District with Nghệ An Province’s Diễn Châu District and Diễn Châu District with Hà Tĩnh Province’s Bãi Vọt District, as well as Khánh Hoà Province’s Nha Trang City with Cam Lâm District, Cam Lâm District with Bình Thuận Province’s Vĩnh Hảo District, Vĩnh Hảo District with Phan Thiết City and Phan Thiết City with Đồng Nai Province’s Dầu Giây Town. The project has a total length of 530km with a tentative investment of VNĐ104,079 billion (US$4.6 billion).
The Phan Thiết-Dầu Giây (98km) project has the highest provisional investment of VNĐ19,571 billion ($863 million), of which VNĐ5,551 billion ($245 million) is allocated from the State budget, while the project of Nha Trang-Cát Lâm (29km) has the lowest tentative investment of VNĐ5,131 billion ($226 million), with VNĐ2,532 billion ($111 million) funded by the Government.
According to the MoT, the eight projects aim to meet the urgent demand of logistics, gradually form the Eastern North-South expressway, connect economic and political centres and economic and industrial zones, as well as accelerate socio-economic development and ensure the country’s defence and security.
Research on the eight projects’ feasibility is being completed. It is expected to finish all construction work by 2021. — VNS
