According to Nguyen Cong Huy, director of the municipal investment and construction project management board, the city would seek an investor to carry out the project.

The escalator, which is planned to be put behind Quang Ninh Seafood Im-export JS Company, could transport hundreds of visitors.
A huge national flag made from solid materials would be also erected on the top of the mountain.
The work would be designed by Spanish architect Salvador Perez.

Huy, however, added that this is a complicated project so local authorities need to gather opinions from agencies and experts. It was also necessary to take into account geological factors to ensure safety.
Locals have however expressed concern about no longer being able to scale the mountain by foot. “I hope that besides the escalator, visitors will be still allowed to climb the mountain,” said Halong City resident Nguyen Xuan Ha.
