The tour offering visitors a chance to experience the lives of fishermen on Quan Lan Island piloted

 

 

The tour, supported by the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA), is intended to raise people’s awareness about sustainable fishing practices. It is also expected to raise islander incomes.

Tourists can learn how to catch and then process the fish from local residents.

Travellers will also learn how to catch fish effectively and safely and how to avoid poisonous fish species.

Bui Ngoc Vien said that his family’s monthly income had doubled to VND7-8 million (USD304.3-347.8) since participating in the project. To date, around half of people on the island have joined the project.

The tour is intended to become an attractive community tourism product in the coming time.

Quan Lan Island located in the Bai Tu Long National Park offers beautiful beaches under pinewood shade. There are many pristine beaches on the island, such as Son Hao, Quan Lan and Minh Chau.

Eo Gio Peak is a must-see place on the island. To reach the summit, visitors must climb numerous mountain roads.
