The trees which are all over ten years old are planted near a stage and along several roads in the 10,000-square-metre park.
A local architect, Le Nguyen Minh, said that it was easy to see that the trees here are having problems.
"They are all perennial trees that were planted at the same time with other trees on surrounding streets," Minh said. "But those in this park are dying here while others are still growing well."
Nguyen Van Phuong who lives near the park said that the trees started to show problems after the park was renovated in 2017 with some construction projects including stages, roads and pavements.
"We used to be very happy when seeing the park being upgraded but now we are sad losing those big trees," Phuong said. "The park is losing visitors."
Speaking with the Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative from District 5 People's Committee said that they have sent experts to study the problems and implement several solutions to rescue the trees including expanding the tubs and providing more water and nutrition.
But the official also admitted that their efforts have not brought positive results as more trees are still dying.
According to the HCM City Green Trees & Parks Company which was asked by the District 5 People's Committee to rescue the trees at the park, they are still seeking for other measures.
The company said that they had warned local authorities about the threat to trees when carrying out the park renovation but their warnings were ignored.
