The centre of the newly formed tropical pressure zone was located at 17 degrees north latitude and 117 degrees east longitude at 7am on July 29, about 450km east from the Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago.

Over the course of the next 24 hours, the tropical pressure zone is expected to develop into a tropical depression.

The strongest winds near the centre of the tropical depression are estimated at approximately 40km- 50km per hour.

During the next 48 hours, the tropical depression is predicted to move west north-west at a speed of between 15km-20km per hour and is likely to strengthen further before eventually developing into a typhoon.

Due the impact of the southwestern monsoon, coastal waters from Binh Thuan to Ca Mau will likely see strong winds and high waves.

This will also affect the southern area of the East Sea, including the waters around the Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago. VOV
