The police of Ham Thuan Nam district in the central province of Binh Thuan investigated the traffic accident that occurred on National Highway 1A on the evening of May 23.

At about 7pm on May 23, local people reported an accident on Highway 1A at Km1732+600 in Thuan Nam town, Ham Thuan Nam district.
At the scene, Le Quoc Trung, 16, from Tanh Linh district, Binh Thuan province died at the scene besides a damaged motorcycle and two pairs of sandals.
Local residents and the police searched for the second victim but they failed.
While the police were investigating the scene, Ngo Minh Vy, 26, a truck driver from Quang Tri city, Quang Tri province stopped his truck at the scene and said that he was the driver of the vehicle that had caused the accident.
Vy carried with him Nguyen Van Chien, 30, from Dong Nai province, who had been traveling on the motorbike with Trung when the accident occurred.
The police investigated and found that Chien was driving a motorbike in the direction of Phan Thiet to Tanh Linh. When he reached the area of Ong Quy bridge, he was hit from behind by the truck driven by Vy.
Trung, who sat behind Chien on the motorbike, died on the spot. Chien was thrown upwards and fell into the iron frame protecting the oil tank on the side of the car and clung to it. Driver Vy said he did not know that he had caused the accident, so he continued to drive the car for nearly 20 kilometers.
When he stopped the truck to fill up, Chien crawled out of the side of the car and told him about the accident.
