Bui Hieu Vo (L) and  Phan Kim Khanh have been arrested for spreading news against the State on Facebook - the most popular social network in Viet Nam, police announced on Wednesday.

Bui Hieu Vo, 55, a resident of Go Vap District, is believed to have set up a Facebook account under the name of Hieu Bui in May, 2015 to post false information, provoking unrest and activities disrupting public order, the police said.

He allegedly called for acid and molotov cocktail attacks against Party and State leaders as well as the police force.

Vo later made contact with members of Viet Tan, an overseas anti-State organisation, to exchange information and jointly administer the Hieu Bui Facebook account, police claimed.

The other man, Phan Kim Khanh, 24, of Phu Tho Province, is said to have set up and run two blogs, three Facebook pages and two Youtube channels on which he uploaded several posts containing false information against the State.

He was arrested in Thai Nguyên Province on Tuesday.

The two men have admitted their wrongdoing, the police said.
