According to the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Co-ordination Centre, it received the information from the fishing boat owner on the evening of November 27, saying that the boat with six people on board sank while operating at the area some 40 nautical miles from the coast of Vung Tau City.

At that time, the weather at the area was experiencing rough seas.

The centre asked ships operating nearby to come to their aid and a rescue vessel was also sent to provide assistance.

The rescue vessel found two drowned victims by this early morning (November 28), while the search continues for the remaining missing crew members.
