A collision between a car and a train on the north-south railway route on July 4 caused two deaths and two others seriously injured.

The incident occurred at 2 pm when a car was crossing the railway section in the central Nghe An Province's Nghi Loc District. 

Two among the four in the car died on the spot, while the others were injured.

The four in the car have yet to be identified.

In October last year, a train crashed into a car early in the morning in Hanoi’s Thuong Tin District, causing five deaths and injuring two others.

In February this year, a north-south express train collided with a truck in Thua Thien-Hue Province, killing three people. The truck was crossing the railway when it was hit by the train.

Railway accidents in Vietnam have tended to be on the rise. From January 1 to February 4 this year, there were 43 railway accidents nationwide in which 19 people died and 38 were injured.
