Two people have been killed and three others seriously injured when a truck collided with a car on the Quang Ninh-Hai Phong Expressway early Wednesday morning.

According to a police report, the tragic accident occurred at 1am when a truck hit a car which was running in the same direction along the expressway.

"The truck's driver, Ngo Quang Hung, 50, and one person on the car died at the site while Hung's assistant and two others in the cars got serious injuries and had been rushed to hospital," police said.

Police investigate the accident

Both of the vehicles were badly damaged.

It is predicted that the accident might be caused by the sleepy truck driver.

Police is investigating the accident.
