Though the Cua Tung and Cua Viet harbors have got funding of VND180 billion, they have yet to develop standard wastewater treatment systems.
This was due to limited resources allocated to the province’s logistics for the fishery industry, coupled with the absence of the standards for wastewater treatment systems back then, so they prioritized developing other project components, the Vietnam News Agency reported, citing the harbor’s management board.
In 2019, the government approved the plan to promote logistics for the fishery industry in Quang Tri, with a budget of VND400 billion. Of the amount, VND130 billion was allocated to Cua Viet harbor and VND50 billion to Cua Tung harbor.
Cua Tung harbor built a wastewater treatment system in 2008, but it has been suspended from operation.
Meanwhile, the wastewater treatment system of Cua Viet harbor, in service since 2001, failed to meet environmental standards.
