Two people have been reported to have drowned while releasing carp into rivers on Kitchen Gods’ Day.

According to the initial information, on the afternoon of January 27, a man in the northern province of Hai Duong and his son came to Thai Binh River to set free carp.    

However, the man suddenly slipped and then fell into the river. He did not know how to swim so he was swept away.

Until this morning, January 28, his body was found near old Phu Luong Bridge.

Another incident happened in HCM City on Kitchen Gods’ Day today.

A woman, 38, in District 9 who can’t swim drowned while releasing carp in Rach Chiec River. She came there with her son.

The son called for help, but when people arrived, it was too late to save her.

Last year, a male university student in Hanoi also drowned while trying to save a woman and her two children who fell into a river while releasing carp there on Kitchen Gods’ Day.
