The incident occurred after the boys lost their bearings and ran out of fuel while fishing on a family motorboat.

On January 7, the Ia Toi Commune Police (Quang Ngai Province) confirmed they had successfully rescued and safely returned two young boys who had been adrift for several hours on the Se San 4 reservoir.

Earlier that morning, residents from a nearby fishing village spotted an unclaimed motorboat floating on the lake near Hamlet 7, Ia Toi Commune. They promptly reported it to local authorities.

Upon receiving the alert, the Ia Toi Police mobilized their response team and coordinated with grassroots security forces and local residents to conduct a search and rescue operation.

When they reached the boat, officers found two teenage boys onboard in a state of physical exhaustion and mental distress. The boys were immediately brought ashore, provided with food and water, and given preliminary medical attention.

The boys were later identified as Ro Cham Tinh and Ro Lan Tai, both born in 2013 and residing in Ia Krai Commune, Gia Lai Province.

According to initial reports, on the evening of January 6, the two boys took their family's motorboat out to fish on Se San Lake. They became disoriented and, after the boat ran out of fuel, were unable to navigate back to shore. The vessel eventually drifted from Gia Lai’s Ia Krai Commune to Ia Toi Commune in Quang Ngai, a distance of over 40 kilometers.
