The Vietnamese Embassy in Greece immediately coordinated with local authorities, relevant agencies in Vietnam, and the tour company to clarify the incident, provide consular protection, and contact the victims’ families to offer condolences and support.

Following instructions from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy continues to work closely with both Greek and Vietnamese authorities to guide necessary procedures and assist the families with funeral arrangements.

The Embassy has advised Vietnamese tourists in Greece to take precautions due to strong winds at this time - avoiding cliff edges, ship decks, and the sea during storms to prevent accidents.

International media reported that, according to initial information, a woman from a group of tourists aboard a cruise ship fell into the sea due to strong winds. A man traveling with her jumped in to rescue her, but both were swept away by large waves.

A spokesperson for the coast guard said both were brought ashore unconscious and taken to a local medical center, where they were pronounced dead.

Greek authorities have warned that recent gusts can reach up to 88 km/h, particularly in the southern region.
