According to initial reports, the victims were identified as Hoang Dinh Thuong, 25, of Yen Bai province, and Nguyen Manh Tuan, 20, of Hanoi city.

The rescue comes on the request of Thuong’s brother who had asked the police to rescue his brother from a casino in Cambodia.

Thuong was said to have got acquainted with a man via social media who persuaded him to come and work at a casino in Cambodia.

Entering Cambodia, Thuong found that the man he had got contact turned out to be a human trafficker. He was forced to pay US$2,440, equal to VND60 million, in exchange for his release.

The casino where Thuong worked is named Khnhom, around one km from the Ha Tien International Border Gate.

After receiving a report, border guards in collaboration with competent Cambodian agencies launched a raid into the casino, rescuing him.

The police found that both Thuong and Tuan had used their passports to exit the country through Moc Bai International Border Gate in the southern province of Tay Ninh in order to enter Cambodia.
