As of 1pm on December 4, the storm is located at 440 kilometres to the northeast of Song Tu Tay Island in the Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago, according to the national weather service NCHMF.

Over the next 24 hours, the system is forecast to move west-northwest at a speed of 10-15 kilometres per hour.

Kammuri is then expected to change its direction to south-southwest and weaken to a tropical depression, which will be at 140 kilometres to the northwest of Song Tu Tay Island at 1pm on December 6.

Over the next 48-72 hours, it is projected to lose further strength and become a low-pressure area before dissipating.

In the Philippines, Typhoon Kammuri killed 10 people and forced the evacuation of thousands of residents and cancellations of hundreds of flights, according to Reuters.

The storm also disrupted the schedule for some events of the ongoing Southeast Asian Games. Dtinews
