Vinh Airport had to close for 11 hours after an Airbus plane suffered a tyre burst while landing on July 16.
Vietnam Airlines plane was about to land when the right tyre burst
The Vietnam Airlines flight from HCM City to Vinh was about to land when the right tyre burst. The crew followed the protocol and successfully landed without much commotion. The passengers were safely taken to the airport by the shuttle bus.
Due to the problem, the plane had to park along the runway under heavy rain and all other flights couldn't land or take off from Vinh Airport. Only five flights were affected. The airport was closed from 9 pm on July 16 to 8 am on the following day.
The plane was towed to a parking area three hours after landing.
In the official statement, Vietnam Airlines confirmed the incident. They also apologised and asked for understanding over the unwanted incident.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said they would send employees to Vinh Airport to interview the crew, collect information, the black box, and recorded data to investigate the cause of the incident.
The representative of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said, "This is a serious incident on a national level. The investigation will be carried out carefully and in accordance with the procedures."
