Viet Nam U15 team beat Malaysia 2-1 in the third match of the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U-15 Women’s Championship in Laos on May 14.
Earlier, Viet Nam lost to Myanmar 1-2 and Thailand 0-1.
Determine to get the first three points in the event, Vietnam played an attacking game and quickly gained control of the match.
Tran Thi Thu Xuan opened the score for Viet Nam in the fourth minute. The goal lifted the momentum for the Vietnamese players to compete excitedly and create more chances to score goals.
However, in the 32nd minute, Malaysia who have better physical strength, unexpectedly levelled the score 1-1 with a penalty kick.
In the second half, Viet Nam team continued their domination. Their efforts were repaid by a goal in the 69th minute by striker Dang Thanh Thao.
Viet Nam will face Laos in the last match of Group A on May 16.
The tournament is organised by the AFF every two years. The official tournament began in 2014, hosted by Myanmar and won by Australia.
