The national team will convene on February 6 in Hanoi to prepare for the international U18 football tournament held in China from February 16-24.

The Viet Nam Football Federation (VFF) has announced that the 20-member team will comprise seven players from Viettel, six from PVF Centre, five from Hanoi and one each from Dong Nai and Nam Dinh.

The team includes nine U16 footballers who competed successfully in the final round of the 2016 AFC U16 event held in India last year, including Huynh Huu Tuan, Vu Duc Minh, Vu Quang Do and Uong Ngoc Tien.

After the tournament in China, the Vietnamese team will take part in the international U19 football tournament held by the VFF and the Thanh Nien newspaper from April 11-22 in Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province.

Head coach Dinh Hong Vinh said the U18 team will then play in the AFF U18 Championship from September 4-17 to try and earn a ticket to participate in the final round of the AFC U19 championships next year.
