Vietnam’s U18 football team defeated Brunei 8-1 in the squad's first match at the 2017 AFF U-18 Youth Championship.

In the first half, Xuan Tu, Hong Son and Van Cong scored three goals for the Vietnamese team. However, their rivals were also secured a goal from a mistake of Vietnam’s goalkeeper.
Five more goals were earned in the second half by Xuan Tu, Van Toi, Khac Khiem and Sy Hoang, settling a victory of 8-1 for U18 Vietnam.
The squad, led by head coach Hoang Anh Tuan, will face the Philippines in its next match, who were beaten by Brunei in the opener.
At the tournament, U18 Vietnam are in the group with Indonesia, Brunei, the Philippines, New Zealand and host Myanmar.
