National U19 players have gathered in Hanoi to train for the ASEAN Football Federation Championship on July 2-14.

They will practise at the National Youth Training Centre for several weeks before taking part in a training course in China from June 15-25.

At the regional championship in Indonesia, Viet Nam are placed in Group A with Thailand, Singapore, Laos, the Philippines and the hosts. Group B includes Malaysia, Myanmar, East Timor, Cambodia and Brunei.

In April, Viet Nam took part in the Suwon JS Cup in South Korea against Mexico, Morocco and the hosts.

Despite finishing at the bottom, coach Hoang Anh Tuan appreciated the effort of his players and said they gained experience from the loss for future competitions. — VNS
