Vietnam will meet Thailand at the U19 Invitational Cup football tournament later this month.

The event will also see the host team in a match against the U18 squad of Japan’s Consadole Sapporo FC. It will be the third time that Vietnam plays Thailand in 11 months.

Vietnam lost both previous matches. Vietnamese players are in an intensive training course in Nha Trang, and will arrive in Hanoi next week.

The squad will fly to Myanmar on August 20, two days before the tournament.

Teams will compete in a round robin format, with the two best teams advancing to the final on August 28.

The winner will receive US$15,000.

Apart from the Japanese club, the remaining three teams will compete in the Southeast Asian U19 Championship in September in Hanoi.
