Hanoi and HCM City are planning to install LED screens in public venues to serve local people who want to watch the final match of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U23 Championship between the Vietnam and Uzbekistan on January 27.

Head of the Hanoi Culture, Sports and Tourism Department To Van Dong said that the city will install 15 ultra-wide LED screens, from 60-120m2, in order to screen the match from China.

The screens will be located at the walking street area around Hoan Kiem Lake and at the August Revolution Square, My Dinh Stadium, Hang Day Stadium, Hoa Binh Park, Thong Nhat Park, and other flower gardens and amusement parks across Hanoi.

In Ho Chi Minh City, ten 7x12.5 metre screens will also be arranged at Nguyen Hue pedestrian street area.

Ho Chi Minh City vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thu revealed that the city’s authorities have assigned Ho Chi Minh City Football JSC to organise the screening to serve local fans and tourists at Nguyen Hue street next Saturday.

In addition, the organisers have also invited commentators to follow the match’s progress.

Fans flock to the streets to celebrate the thrilling win for Vietnam U23 over the Qataris. 



Vietnam U23 will take on Uzbekistan U23 in their last match at the tournament in China on Saturday afternoon. The team is scheduled to arrive home the following afternoon.

According to Nguyen Thai Binh, Head of the Office of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the team will be warmly welcomed by the ministry’ officials and fans at Noi Bai International Airport.

At 8pm the same day, the ministry plans to host a celebration for coach Park Hang-seo’s side at the 40,000 seat Hanoi’s National My Dinh Stadium. Fans will be offered free entrance and the opportunity to meet the players.
