Along with various other items, she revealed the reasons behind her unique choice.

Yi Yun, 27, is a football commentator who enjoys experiencing local life and culture when she's not working. Although she has not yet fully acclimatized to Hanoi’s weather and air quality, she thoroughly enjoys exploring the local cuisine, with favorites like bun ca (fish vermicelli) and pho bo (beef noodles).

On her personal TikTok channel, she frequently shares videos about her daily life in Hanoi, introducing her Chinese followers to various Vietnamese fruits and specialties.

Receiving numerous inquiries about what special Vietnamese products to bring back as gifts, Yi Yun recently shared her recommendations during a trip back to China.

"I bought a lot of specialties and useful household items from Vietnam to bring back to China, filling up a big suitcase," she said.

The items she brought back were divided into two categories: food and beverages, and household goods. Most of these items were purchased from a nearby supermarket to ensure clear origins and reasonable prices.

Among the food and drink items were Hai Duong green bean cakes, whole bean and ground coffee, peach jam sponge cake, dried beef, dried fruits, peanut candies, shrimp crackers, and condensed milk.

Sharing with VietNamNet, Yi Yun mentioned that these were items she had tried and found suitable for Chinese tastes. She praised the green bean cake for its softness and melt-in-the-mouth texture, which is not overly sweet and pairs well with tea.

She also bought a significant amount of instant noodles, noting that while China has many famous instant noodle brands, Vietnamese instant noodles have a distinctive flavor she wanted her family to try.

"On previous trips back home, I also bought many Vietnamese specialties as gifts for friends and family. Everyone loved them, especially the green bean cakes. I even gave some to Vietnamese friends living in China, who were very touched to receive a taste of home," Yi Yun shared.

Besides the food items, Yi Yun's favorite item to buy as a gift was the Vietnamese wooden cutting board.

Yi Yun explained that the cutting board she bought was made from eucalyptus wood, featuring an attractive design and color. Despite some finding it amusing to gift a cutting board, she saw it as a useful item that can last a long time.

"I love cooking, so I can't resist affordable and easy-to-use kitchen tools. I bought this cutting board in a supermarket during a discount, costing only 16 RMB (around 56,000 VND). The price is very reasonable, and I've used it before and found it to be of good quality," she said.

Despite the cutting board's weight, which could be bought online, Yi Yun preferred to personally select it as a heartfelt and sincere gesture for the recipient.

Yi Yun also mentioned that meat, eggs, and milk are prohibited on flights, but fish sauce is not. Therefore, she bought Vietnamese anchovy fish sauce for her mother, who loves it.

"I bought a big bottle and several small ones so my mother can easily share with her friends," she said.

The young commentator expressed that there were more items she wanted to buy, but due to limited suitcase space, she had to postpone and wait for another opportunity. As she spends most of her time in Vietnam this year, she plans to discover and experience more specialties to give as gifts.

She also suggested several Vietnamese specialties that are easy to buy and make useful gifts for international visitors, such as jasmine tea, cashews, bird's nest, and perfumes.
