Unlicensed beaches operating in Ha Long City in Quang Ninh Province during summer have made local authorities worried, reported the online newspaper vov.vn.

Along the coastal road of Tran Quoc Nghien, dozens of unlicensed beaches have been attracting hundreds of local people in the hot summer days.
These beaches do not have any safety buoys or rescue teams.
According to the newspaper, the lack of standard public beaches in the area is driving people to ignore the risks of swimming on these unlicensed beaches.
Currently, Ha Long City has five licensed beaches in Bai Chay area and on islands in Ha Long Bay.
Nguyen Duc Uong, a resident of Bach Dang Ward, said: “Since there is not enough public beaches, we had to find beaches ourselves. It is stupid if we are living next to the sea and are unable to swim.”
Le Van Hung, a representative of Bach Dang Ward, said unlicensed beaches have been attracting people since last summer.
“The local authority had supervised and warned people not to swim on these beaches, but they ignored,” he said.
“Swimming in the sea is in high demand, so we want the local government to plan more public beaches to ensure safety of the people,” he added.
In 2016, authorities in Ha Long City proposed Quang Ninh Province to set up two public beaches in Hon Gai.
But the proposal is still on paper, Hung said.
