US President Barack Obama has informed that he will pay an official visit to Vietnam this May to learn more about the country, its people and culture as well as discuss specific measures to boost bilateral comprehensive partnership.

He made his confirmation while meeting Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on the sidelines of the Special ASEAN – US Leaders’ Summit recently closed in Sunnylands, California, Foreign Ministry spokesman Le Hai Binh told the Foreign Ministry’s regular press briefing in Hanoi on March 3.

The Vietnamese PM welcomed the coming visit which he said, will help further the Vietnam –US comprehensive partnership for peace and development and lifting bilateral ties to a greater height, contributing to maintaining regional peace, stability and cooperation.

The visit is being arranged by both sides, Binh added.
