The Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) announced the figure in the Viet Nam Annual Business Report 2015, which it released at a business forum in Ha Noi on Wednesday.
Information and communications employees were the runners-up with an average income of VND140 million per year. They were followed closely by employees involved in the production and distribution of electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioners, with an average income of VND135 million per year.
The income of workers in the manufacturing sector averaged VND68 million per year, higher than the VND53 million average in the agriculture-forestry-aquaculture sector.
Overall, the average annual income of labourers nationwide grew from VND28 million in 2007 to VND74.6 million in 2014.
The VCCI study also reported an increase of 2.5 times in the average turnover per labourer for all businesses in Viet Nam during 2007-15.
The average turnover rose from around VND482 million in 2007 to roughly VND1.2 billion in 2015, equivalent to an average growth rate of 12.1 per cent per year.
In 2014, the average turnover per labourer of electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioner producers and distributors reached about VND4.3 billion per year, topping all sectors.
Wholesale, retail and motorcycle repair ranked second with an average turnover of some VND3.1 billion per labourer per year.
Ore mining ranked third with an average turnover of VND2.2 billion per worker per year, followed closely by banking and finance with more than VND2 billion per employee per year.
The average turnover in banking and finance has declined continuously during the 2012-14 period, after previously taking our the top position for a number of years.
