Bac Giang farmers have had a record litchi crop failure this year with output just 42.5 percent of that last year. However, farmers earned VND4.8 trillion, a record high revenue.
The Vietnam Vegetable and Fruit Association (VINAFRUIT) estimated that Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable exports will top 5.5 - 5.6 billion USD, which is a new record, in 2023.
Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable exports have leapt to unprecedented highs, driven by the strong demand of China and the sector’s ongoing market diversification efforts.
Fruit and vegetable exports are poised for a record revenue of US$5 billion this year, driven by favourable conditions from the beginning of this year.
Vietnam earned nearly US$1.9 billion from fruit and vegetables exports during the first five months of this year, representing an increase of 29% year on year, according to the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetables Association (Vinafruit).
2022 has been a successful export year as Vietnam’s farm produce has accessed many international markets.
Eleven Vietnamese fruits have been allowed to be exported to China through official channels. However, Chinese consumption decreased during the pandemic, and, as a result, Vietnam’s exports to the market fell by $400 million in H1.
