Nghia, former director of the My Dinh National Sports Complex, was elected as the VFF's vice president of finance last December.

Nghia had been experiencing difficulties finding sponsors and stabilising the finances for the VFF.

He was also under pressure after being caught up in a tax scandal while still serving as director of My Dinh National Sports Complex.

VFF Chairman Le Khanh Hai said he would appoint other members to cover Nghia's role before appointing a replacement in early July.
