Viet Nam Football Federation’s Deputy General Secretary Duong Nghiep Khoi (left) will retire on January 24.
One of the most experienced officials in VFF, Khoi cited health reasons for quitting. “I have worked for 13 years for VFF and I have been living away from my family for all these years. Now I am a grandfather and my health is not good enough to continue working. I have asked for retirement and will live with my family in HCM City,” the 59-year-old said.
Khoi’s knowledge and background experience of football is considered outstanding, and he has worked with several VFF heads over the years. He was the head of V.League tournament’s organising committee in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2011, and deputy head in 2009 and 2010. He was also head of the U19 squad, who won a slot in the upcoming U20 World Cup in South Korea.
Khoi has wanted to quit for some years now. VFF president Le Hung Dung had been trying to persuade him to stick on till the end of the World Cup event, but Khoi refused.
