President of the VFF Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan writes in the funeral book
Fidel Castro, who was Commander-in-chief of the Cuban revolution, former First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee (CPC), and former President of the Council of State and Council of Ministers, died on November 25 night (Havana time) at the age of 90.
Writing on the funeral book, the VFF leader expressed deep sorrow at the death of the late leader.
“The Vietnamese people and I myself admire the great devotion of comrade Fidel Castro to the national liberation and national development of Cuba as well as the struggle for national independence and progress in the world,” he wrote.
He affirmed that Vietnamese people always keep in their mind the warm sentiments and great support that comrade Fidel Castro gave to Vietnam during the past struggle for national independence, reunification and the building of socialism.
Nhan reiterated Fidel Castro’s famous saying “For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to devote blood”.
On November 28 afternoon and November 29 morning, about 60 delegations and thousands of people paid tribute to the late Cuban leader at the Cuban Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City.
Along with leaders from Ho Chi Minh City and a number of localities, including Ben Tre and Binh Duong, former President Nguyen Minh Triet, former Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan and former Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Party Committee Le Thanh Hai also paid homage to Fidel Castro.
The Cuban Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City will open the funeral book for Fidel Castro Ruz until December 4.-VNA
