Vietnamese sport got a boost when swimmer Nguyen Thi Anh Vien bagged another gold medal at the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) in Turkmenistan on September 25.

Clocking 1:01:68 in the women’s 100m medley, Vien also broke the AIMAG record.

The silver medal went to Chinese swimmer Zhang Chenyai.

In total, the Vietnamese swimming phenom has bagged two gold medals, and broken two AIMAG records in the women’s 100m and 200m medley.

Vien’s gold was Vietnam’s 11th at the AIMAG.

Also the same day, dancing couple Nguyen Trung Kien and Pham Hong Anh won gold in dancesport, also known as competitive ballroom dancing. They won over the jury and the audience with their emotional performance. The silver and bronze medals were presented to Hong Kong and host country’s teams respectively.

Anh said she was very proud with their achievements after a lot of strenuous training. She also said that harmonious cooperation with her partner Kien contributed to the impressive performance.

Vietnam currently rank 7th in the medal table.
