The Police Investigation Agency of Thua Thien-Hue Province has detained Hoang Van Duc, director of the provincial CDC, and launched criminal proceedings against him for allegedly violating bidding regulations and gouging prices of Covid test kits.
The Ministry of Health, on February 19, issued Circular No.02/2022/TT-BTY regulating the price for Covid-19 testing services, effective from February 21.
Directors of of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) of Nghe An and Bac Giang provinces said in the past that they did not “receive any dong from Viet A”. However, the investigation agency has shown that he was involved.
The police has seized, blocked and averted real estate transactions and accounts worth US$53.86 million relating to the case of COVID-19 test kit developer Viet A Technologies JSC, an officer said on January 28.
Several suspects in the overcharging for COVID-19 test kits at the Viet A Technologies JSC are being investigated for “offering bribe”, “receiving bribe”, and “abusing position and power while performing duties”.
On its official website, Viet A Technologies JSC describes itself as a pioneer in disseminating hi-tech tests in the health sector.
