On November 20, Vietnam officially received five T-6C Texan II trainer aircraft from the United States, as part of a larger agreement for 12 planes. This delivery highlights the growing defense cooperation between the two countries.

Speaking at a regular press briefing on November 21, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang confirmed the handover. She noted that the aircraft transfer is based on key defense cooperation agreements, including the 2011 Memorandum of Understanding on Advancing Bilateral Defense Cooperation and the 2024 Joint Vision Statement on Defense Cooperation.

The T-6C aircraft are cutting-edge training planes designed for modern pilot education, underscoring Vietnam’s focus on enhancing its defense capabilities.

Spokesperson Hang emphasized that this cooperation falls under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the United States, aimed at fostering peace, cooperation, and sustainable development.

“This partnership contributes positively to peace, stability, and development in the region and the world,” she stated.
