The carrier will operate two flights per week on Thursdays and Sundays, using the Airbus A350 aircraft on the route.

The new air route is anticipated to create more favourable conditions for passengers who wish to travel, visit relatives, work, or study in Australia's second largest city, according to a representative of Vietnam Airlines.

According to the plan, flight VN779 will depart from Hanoi at 00:05 a.m. and land in Melbourne at 12:30 p.m., while flight VN778 is expected to depart from Melbourne at 15:00 p.m. before landing in Hanoi at 21:35 p.m.

From now until December 31, the airline will sell round-trip tickets from only US$645, equivalent to VND15,237,000 including taxes and fees.

Furthermore, Vietnam Airlines will change itineraries free of charge for passengers who purchased tickets on the Hanoi-Melbourne route before April 30 from connecting flights via Ho Chi Minh City to direct flights.

Between June 15 and July 14 Vietnam Airlines also launched a scheme offering one extra piece of free baggage for customers who purchase flexible economy and standard economy tickets on the Hanoi-Melbourne route.

Following the launch of the new service Hanoi-Melbourne, Vietnam Airlines has become the airline with the most direct routes between the nation and Australia.

The airline operates a total of four direct routes from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Sydney and Melbourne with a total frequency of up to 18 flights per week.

With an impressive recovery of passenger travel, Australia currently ranks fourth among Vietnam Airlines' most important aviation markets.
