VietNamNet Bridge – Two Boeing 777-200ER of Vietnam Airlines will be sold. The airline will also lease three Airbus A350, scheduled for delivery from 2016 to 2017.
Vietnam Airlines currently owns four B777-200ER aircraft. Of these, two planes were manufactured in 2003 and the depreciation period is until 2019. The two remaining Boeings were made in 2004, with the depreciation period until 2020. The plan to sell two Boeings was approved by the shareholders.
Currently, the company plans to sell the remaining two Boeings. The Ministry of Transport and the owner of the State capital at Vietnam Airlines have agreed with the plan.
Tuoi Tre quoted a source from Vietnam Airlines as saying that the airline’s move aims to control the amount of debt, while ensuring the number of aircraft in operation as well as the ability to balance cash flow and corporate finance safety.
The sale and lease back in the form of competitive offers will be made public in accordance with the law.
