A meeting marking the International Day for Disaster Reduction (October 13) was organized by Vietnam Red Cross Society, International Red Crescent Society and the National Steering Committee on Natural Disaster Prevent at Tam Ky city of Quang Nam province this morning.





The 2016 World Disaster Report showed that around 98.6 million worldwide people were affected by the natural disaster in 2015. 

2015 was considered as the most severe drought year since 1880.

Vietnam has been one of five countries most affected by the natural disaster and climate change in the world. The Asian country has suffered 10- 15 typhoons and flash flood year by year, causing a damage of 50 percent of land.

The 2016 International Day for Disaster Reduction titled ‘Live to share’ , aiming to call for each individual to share lessons and experiences about dealing with natural disaster and climate change.

On the occasion, the organization board has selected Hoa Huong Ward of Tam Ky city to launch a conference about this topic.
