This year the theme of the competition primarily focused on issues raised at the G20 Summit, including food security, climate change, sustainable development goals, health care, weather, climate change, and feminism.
The speeches given by the contestants were required to revolve around the theme of the G20 Summit: “One Planet, One Family, One Future”.
The Top 25 in the Head To Head Challenge sub-contest participated in a debate at the Bharat Mandapam convention centre which served as the venue of the G20 Summit on February 23.
Vietnamese contestant Mai Phuong was named among the Top 25 of the sub-contest alongside other representatives in Asian region, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, the Philippines, Thailand, and host nation India.
The 71st Miss World pageant took place in New Delhi and Mumbai from February 18, attracting around 130 contestants. The grand finale is due to be held in Mumbai on March 9.
Phuong, 23, beat 36 other contestants on the final night of the Miss World Vietnam 2022 pageant to claim top prize and represent Vietnam in the 71st Miss World pageant.
The local girl stands at 1.70 metres tall and measures 82-63-92 cm. She currently works as an emcee, appearing on numerous television programmes.
In recent years, Vietnamese representatives have gained several prizes at the Miss World pageant. Indeed, Luong Thuy Linh reached the Top 12 in 2019 and Do Thi Ha was placed among the Top 13 finalists in 2021.
