Committee members also include Head of the Party Central Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilization Trinh Van Quyet; President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai; Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc; General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army; Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court Nguyen Van Quang; Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuracy Nguyen Huy Tien; Chief of the Party Central Office Nguyen Hai Ninh; Government Inspector General Nguyen Quoc Doan; Minister of Justice Hoang Thanh Tung; State Auditor General Nguyen Huu Nghia; Chairman of the National Assembly’s Committee for Legal and Judicial Affairs Phan Chi Hieu; and Deputy Head of the Party Central Internal Affairs Commission Dang Van Dung.

According to Regulation No. 191 issued by the Politburo, the Central Steering Committee on the Prevention and Combat of Corruption, Wastefulness and Misconduct is established by the Politburo and operates under the direction of the Politburo and the Party Secretariat. The body is responsible for directing, coordinating, urging, inspecting and supervising anti-corruption, anti-wastefulness and anti-misconduct efforts nationwide.

The committee’s anti-wastefulness work focuses primarily on the management and use of public finances and state assets. Its anti-misconduct efforts target political, moral and lifestyle degradation among Party members, officials and civil servants - especially leaders and managers within the political system nationwide.

The committee also directly oversees the handling of corruption cases or suspected corruption cases deemed serious, complex or of significant public concern, as well as cases involving severe waste of public finances and assets.

In addition, the body supervises major misconduct cases that seriously affect the reputation, moral standards and exemplary role of Party members and public officials, potentially undermining public trust in the Party, the State and the political system.

The steering committee operates under an annual working agenda and convenes every six months, with extraordinary meetings held when necessary. Its standing committee meets every three months or on an extraordinary basis when required.
