Eight Vietnamese chess players will attend the World Youth U14, U16, U18 Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships 2017 to take place in Greek from October 27.
Among the eight, Nguyen Anh Khoi and Tran Minh Thang are the promising faces of Vietnam’s chess.
Nguyen Anh Khoi is the U16 highest hope to win a medal at the event.
Tran Minh Thang, from Hanoi, is expected to make a surprise in the U18 category.
Thang grabbed a bronze in the boys' U16 category of the World Youth Chess Championship 2016.
He placed No 6 with six points at the recent Piaya Network Negros International Open in the Philippines.
