Vietnam and Azerbaijan have officially established cooperation in legal and judicial affairs.

An agreement to this effect was signed in Hanoi on March 8 by Vietnamese Justice Minister Ha Hung Cuong and his Azerbaijani counterpart Fikrat Mammadov.

Accordingly, the two sides will join hands in judicial activities, personnel training and legal studies, among others.

Addressing the signing ceremony, Minister Cuong highlighted the fruitful traditional friendship between Vietnam and Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan boasts a strong judicial system and has experience in judicial reform, which Vietnam can learn from to perfect its own legal system and judicial reform, he said.

Fikrat Mammadov expressed his hope that the agreement will be actualised as soon as possible, and that the two sides will enhance the exchange of experts and officials to contribute to judicial reforms in each country.

The Azerbaijan Minister is on a working visit to Vietnam from March 6-10. Earlier, he met with Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu and Chief Judge of the Supreme People’s Court Truong Hoa Binh.

Government supports justice cooperation with Azerbaijan

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has affirmed the Vietnamese Government always supports cooperative activities between its Justice Ministry and the Azerbaijani partner. He made the affirmation at a reception for visiting Azerbaijani Justice Minister Fikrat Mammadov and his delegation in Hanoi on March 8.

The Deputy PM spoke highly of the importance and significance of the relations between the two countries’ legislative, executive and judicial agencies as well as the signing of a cooperation agreement between the two Justice Ministries.

He recalled Azerbaijan’s assistance to Vietnam in various fields during the Soviet era, including the training of personnel, noting that many of whom have contributed greatly to national development.

Minister Fikrat Mammadov told his host that the purpose of his visit is to set up a cooperative relationship in the legal and judicial fields as part of efforts to strengthen the growing cooperation between the two countries.

He expressed his hope that both sides will continue measures to further their traditional friendship.

Fatherland Front leader welcomes Japanese special advisor

President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan hosted a reception in Hanoi on March 8 for Tsutomu Takebe, special advisor to the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance.

At the reception, Tsutomu Takebe informed the host of the progress of the Vietnam-Japan University project.

He said the university will open its first master course on September 9, expressing his hope that Nhan, one of the first Vietnamese politicians who prepared the ground for the project, will make further efforts to boost the its operation.

Delighted at the fine development of the Vietnam-Japan Extensive Strategic Partnership, the VFF President affirmed that Vietnam attaches special importance to the nations’ ties and believes the relationship will grow further, bringing benefits to both countries and contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

Regarding the Vietnam-Japan University project, Nhan confirmed that Vietnam is willing to coordinate with Japan to put the university into operation effectively.

Also at the event, the two sides exchanged views and experience in the agricultural sector, especially advanced cooperative and private agricultural enterprise models.

Vietnam, Azerbaijan cement judicial bonds

Chief Judge of the Supreme People’s Court Truong Hoa Binh on March 8 received Azerbaijani Justice Minister Fikrat Mammadov, who said that his visit to Vietnam aimed to intensify cooperation between the two Justice Ministries through information sharing in judicial reform.

He informed the host that the two ministries will sign an agreement on judicial training during this visit.

Appreciating the role of the Supreme People’s Court, Minister Fikrat Mammadov also introduce the host to basic features of the Judicial-Legal Council and the court system of Azerbaijan.

He expressed his hope that the two sides will intensify delegation exchanges and collaboration in legal and judicial affairs.

Binh, in turn, hailed the significance of the Azerbaijani delegation’s visit, affirming that it will contribute to enhancing the nations’ traditional friendship and solidarity.

Speaking of the partnership between the two Justice Ministries, he believed that the signing of their cooperation agreement will form a foundation to tighten bilateral relations in the legal and judicial fields.

NA Vice Chairman welcomes Azerbaijan Justice Minister

Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu received Azerbaijan Justice Minister Fikrat Mammadov in Hanoi on March 7.

The Vice Chairman welcomed the current working visit to Vietnam by Minister Mammadov and his entourage, saying that this contributes to strengthening and promoting the traditional ties between the two countries.

Hailing outcomes of the two justice ministries’ working session, Luu said the two sides need to continue increasing cooperation in justice while sharing experience in law issuance processes, along with training and education in the field.

Minister Mammadov said his current visit aims to boost connection between the two justice ministries and share information in judicial reform.

The two sides will sign an agreement on strengthening judicial training, he added.

The minister expressed his willingness to share experience in judicial reform and strengthen coordination in training with Vietnam.
