Tuan Hai scores a goal from the penalty box, helping Vietnam beat Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in a friendly match in Hanoi on November 30.

The visiting team flexed their muscle at the beginning, with striker Malen opening the score in the 13th minute of the game.

Striker Tien Linh earned an equalizer 20 minutes later before Tuan Hai put Vietnam ahead from a penalty kick.

Both teams carved out scoring chances throughout the game, but their goalkeepers did their job quite well.

The friendly match was considered a perfect test for Korean coach Park Hang-seo and the Vietnamese team before they begin their quest for a title at the coming ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Cup.

They are scheduled to play the Philippines in another friendly game in December before the AFF Cup tournament starts.

The regional football tournament is due to take place from December 23 to January 16.

Vietnam have been drawn in Group B and they will play two away matches against Laos and Singapore on December 21 and December 30, respectively. They will then play at home against Malaysia on December 27 and Myanmar on January 3, 2023.

The 2022 AFF Cup is Park’s final tournament in his capacity as chief coach. The Vietnam Football Federation earlier announced that the Korean expert would no longer coach the national team after the AFF Cup. His contract is to expire in January 2023.
